CSS HOLDS ZERO TO HERO CONFERENCE 3.0
The Zero to Hero 3.0 was highly engaging and enlightening for attendees who were present at the conference venue, Sentinel Center, Maryland, Lagos on Saturday 6th July 2019.
With the theme, The Nigerian Youth: Optimizing the Demographic Dividend, the conference provided a great platform to discuss contemporary issues that youthfulness in Nigeria represents in the scheme of things the world over.
The keynote speech delivered by ace business consultant, Mrs. Toki Mabogunje focused her attention on re-orientating the mindset of youths against the perceived negative disposition to challenges because ‘challenges are a fact of life, is the fuel of greatness, and helps people to build resource’. She identified youth unemployment as a major setback in the country. She advised youths to embrace skill acquisition, listed the job skills of the future and gave some priority sectors in Nigeria to include ICT, media. She added that all youths need to master critical skills such as discipline, self-reliance, motivation, people skills and communication as they are important for life.
After the keynote, two-panel sessions held to further dissect the topic. The first one anchored by Zandra Nwogu focused on business and entrepreneurship was peopled by Olumide Ashley-Dejo, Funto Ibuoye and Nkechi Mabogunje.
After a short break, the second-panel discussion moderated by David Olaseinde on Politics and Governance had politicians and political technocrats like Oluseye Olofin, Dayo Israel, Adedayo Adeniyi and Dare Akinlaja as panelists.
The organizers of the conference, Club Still Standing (CSS), the youth arm of Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative (SAMI) presented special wall portrait frames to all the speakers. The speakers were visibly elated and appreciated the uniqueness of the present.
