‘TOUCH A CELL WITH TOYIN & THE GANG’NOW LIVE ON RADIO
In a bid to permeate the grassroots with its message on sickle cell disorder, Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiaitive (SAMI) with support of Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate debuted a new educative and entertaining show on Eko 89.7 FM, a popular radio station in the city of Lagos, Nigeria.
The radio being a predominant medium of communication among the masses, it serves a very effective means of reaching the society with the much-needed information and advocacy about sickle cell disorder. It also helps to correct misconception and misinformation that is rife in the public domain about the genetic disorder.
‘Touch a Cell with Toyin & the Gang’ is a 30-minutes programme that airs live on Thursdays with online syndication and feature guests such as health professionals, persons living with sickle cell disorder and caregivers. It also showcases a short drama skit titled ‘Adventures of Baba Shukura’ a hilarious and informative drama about a family’s experience in dealing with day to day life issues especially as it relates to having a child living with sickle cell disorder.
The radio program tagged ‘Touch a Cell with Toyin & the Gang’was first aired on Thursday, 11th October, 2018 at 4.30pm with Toyin Adesola, the Executive Director and Founder of Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative – SAMI and Telemoh Soroaye as co-host. The show has continued to air regularly ever since.
