SAMI Leads Life-Saving Blood Drive at RCCG King’s Court, Mobilises Donors for Sickle Cell Warriors

In a stirring demonstration of compassion and civic responsibility, SAMI spearheaded a life-saving blood donation drive on Sunday, 22nd March 2026 at RCCG The King’s Court, Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing widespread commendation for its impact on individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease.

Held during the church’s Inclusion Sunday service, the outreach recorded an impressive turnout, with 34 congregants stepping forward to donate blood. Following rigorous medical screening, 17 donors were certified fit—each contribution representing a critical lifeline for patients in urgent need of transfusion support.

For SAMI, the exercise goes beyond routine intervention. It embodies a deeper mission to inspire voluntary blood donation and sustain hope among vulnerable populations, particularly sickle cell warriors whose survival often depends on timely access to safe blood. The organisation described the initiative as a powerful reminder of humanity’s shared responsibility, where the generosity of one individual, often unknown, can preserve the life of another.

The success of the drive was strengthened through collaboration with the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service, whose technical oversight ensured adherence to stringent safety and quality standards.

Leaders and members of RCCG The King’s Court, Victoria Island, Lagos, were lauded for their openness and commitment to social impact, while donors were celebrated as unsung heroes whose actions will resonate far beyond the church walls.

SAMI reiterated its call for communities, religious institutions, and corporate bodies to embrace similar initiatives, noting that voluntary blood donation remains one of the most powerful contributions to public health.

As the campaign message poignantly affirms, a pint of blood is more than a donation. It is a second chance at life for someone, somewhere, holding on for hope.
