The award was presented at the Woman of Substance Conference and Awards held on Friday, March 6, 2026, an initiative led by renowned media personality Ify Onyegbule and her team. Adesola, who was unavoidably absent, was represented at the event by SAMI’s Communications Officer, Yomi Oyelami, who received the award on her behalf.
Titled “Inform Right, Inform Well,” the two-hour virtual training was held on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. It was exclusively designed for journalists, broadcasters, editors, writers, content creators and other media practitioners across the country. The event which is part of SAMI’s activities to mark World Radio Day 2026, reinforced the vital role of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in shaping public health awareness.
The memorial service which was held at the Church of Assumption, Lagos, was followed by prayers at The Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi. Despite falling on a weekday, the event recorded a good turnout, underscoring the far-reaching influence and goodwill that Banke Alawaye built during her lifetime.
