In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Founder and Executive Director of SAMI, Toyin Adesola, has been honoured with the Courage and Resilience Award in recognition of her exceptional strength, leadership, and commitment to impact.
The award was presented at the Woman of Substance Conference and Awards held on Friday, March 6, 2026, an initiative led by renowned media personality Ify Onyegbule and her team. Adesola, who was unavoidably absent, was represented at the event by SAMI’s Communications Officer, Yomi Oyelami, who received the award on her behalf.

The recognition celebrates Adesola’s unwavering determination to rise above challenges with dignity while championing advocacy for individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease. Widely regarded as a passionate advocate, she has led SAMI in promoting healthier, more productive lives for sickle cell warriors, through sustained outreach and empowerment programmes.
The organisation expressed profound gratitude to the Woman of Substance platform for the honour, reaffirming its commitment to the “give to gain” philosophy. The recognition further underscores the growing impact of purpose-driven leadership in advancing social change and inspiring resilience among vulnerable communities.
